We are arriving Saturday evening at Halfmoon Bay. Just wondering if the grocery stores in Tulum (San Fransisco or the new Chedraui) are open on Sundays? Which one is best for beer (Pacifico) and groceries?

Yes they are open Sundays, beer/liquor sales end at 1pm (could be wrong on exact time) for grocery/mini stores only on Sundays.

I prefer Chedraui but I hear SF has stepped up their game as far as quality

Me too. But remember the Sunday, Mexico liquor laws. Nothing before 2p as I recall. Also, it seems like an out of the way haul if you're staying at HMB. Couldn't you just hit a store in PdC?

You might want to stop at the Chedraui on the highway at Puerto Aventuras, on your way to your accommodations.
Good selection, good prices and very convenient location.
