anyone been there for lunch and hang at the beach? is there an entrance fee? will they allow your ot eat lunch and use there lounge chairs for a few hours. I have been to the beach club down the way but
al cielo beach club look interesting.

Sorry,, never been but they really want you to make reservations for lunch or dinner (small place, hotel only has 4 rooms).

We eat there every time we're in Akumal, most recently November 2012, next time this Saturday night.
There's no charge to park in the convenient lot adjacent.
The beach is gorgeous Xpu-Ha beach; almost no one there. If you come in daylight, you can walk south on the beach til you come to the public Xpu-Ha beach entrance and beach bar.
The palapas are lovely and when they are not busy/in use by guests you can rent them. Most recent price quote was $10 for an hour or two.
I have never made a reservation for lunch or dinner and have always been able to be seated and served immediately.
Favorite dishes: a crabmeat, grapefruit, avocado salad is light and delicious. The lobster pasta is wonderful and served just occasionally. Every meal I've had there has been perfectly prepared and served.
Helpful hint: if driving to al Cielo for the first time, be sure to arrive before dark, as finding the turnoff into their driveway, shortly before Puerto Aventuras, requires a sharp eye. Upon departure and turning onto Hwy 307, be sure you have a big gap in traffic as your car will be pointing steeply uphill on rough gravel; you can spin a bit. Or, just take a cab; they'll call one for you to come back home when you've finished dinner.
