If you want to see where most all known Mayan ruins are located go Here. These two guys have created maps that show more than you could explore in a lifetime. Be aware that probably most of the ruins noted on these maps are not excavated nor open to tourists and may be nothing more than a pile of rocks in the jungle on private property. The ruins are ranked by importance and it would probably be a waste of your time to try to find minor ruins, however if you do happen to stumble on one, this will probably give you the name.

Thanks, Whale - that's awesome!

Oddly, while most of the ruins that I've visited are pretty exactly placed, many of those on the Punta Allen road appear to be mislocated. Chamax, which I believe is the ruin across the road from Xamach Dos, is shown about 750 meters to the northeast, out on the reef. I was particularly hoping that I could use this info to find some of the ones that Michel Peissel mentioned, such as Recodo San Juan, as I had failed to find any (aside from Chamax) on an earlier trip.

All in all, its great to have.

Thanks, this will come in handy traveling to Tikal for some sidetrips.
