Status: offline 		Oh course no one likes it, IMB, but what can you do about it? NADFT! (We) are not citizens of Mexico and have no say in what they or the gvt does.

It is only a rumour at this point, and as you know, if you know the area, rumors abound; it's a national past-time!
How long now has there going to be an airport built in Tulum?
How long now has there been a ferry starting up from Miami (or somewhere in Florida) to Isla Mujeres?

The local populace IS against this travesty, and there are petitions. Check out Change.org.

And last, but not least, if they do build it... show your protest by not shopping there!

PERMITS ARE NOT ISSUED and it's not even clear who owns the land. I've searched for stories and there isn't much in the usual papers. I know it's popped up a few times over the last 2 yrs or so, but never seemed to go anywhere.

Keep in mind how many times the Mexican papers reported land being cleared for the new airport... I swear sometimes these "journalists" get their news from the cousin's uncle's friend on a Friday night after he's bought them all a few rounds of shots.

It's not moved from the conception stage.
Not something I would like to see, but development moves on with bigger and so called "better".
If this develops as quickly as the Tulum airport did..I'll be long gone and buried before they ever break ground.
