Should we bring our own snorkeling gear for our week long trip? Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to rent gear for a week? Thank You!

We always take our own in our carry on backpack. Loose our luggage and we can still do what we love to do in the Roo! I also would much rather have my equipment that I have cleaned and I know it fits me.

If you have your own gear that you know fits you, and if you have space in your luggage for it, bring your own.

When we went in December, we took our own gear. I got a nice set at Dicks before we left, and it worked out fine. We did have to rent life jackets, but we're going to buy some of the inflatable ones for our next trip! I had never snorkeled before, and I cannot tell you how cool it was to see all of those fish and things, and especially the turtles!! I'm hooked!! Can't wait to go back!!

I actually did not say bring your own gear. This trip down we're just going to have one full day in Akumal. Since I don't want to pay for an extra bag, I'm going to rent my gear for that one day, use my carry on for all of my stuff and use my free check in bag for toys and clothes for the local kids. It's rather important to consider how much you're going to snorkel. I'm just going to make one or two snorkels. I can wash my own gear before I go out, though I will probably pack my snorkel.
