Trying to figure out the difference from the west coast of the US. Searched the forums but could not find any info. Thanks in advance.

You are Pacific time zone and Akumal is Central Time zone
They are 2 hours behind you.
EDIT - I meant 2 hours ahead of PACIFIC time.

Central time, same as Chicago or Winnipeg.
The time on the webcam is current Akumal time.

thanks. that helps. have to overnight in LA this trip - long layover. but that will make the 3 hour time difference from here shorter. and now I know the total time difference. thanks again for the exceptionally quick replies.

Correct (for the vast majority of the year).

Although to make something otherwise simple more complicated, Mexico observes different daylight saving time arrangements (they move ahead on April 7th this year), meaning from when the US and Canada move ahead on March 10 this year, the time in Akumal is the same as Denver/Salt Lake City/Calgary/Edmonton for 4 weeks.

Pretty sure it hasn't happened yet, nor whether/when it will, but awhile back I heard that Mexico was going to switch the Yucatan to Eastern time. Personally, I'd much prefer to keep it as is. Much simpler for us Wisconsinites!

When it's 10:00 am in Akumal it's going to be 10:00 am later in Alaska so Alaska is in front of Akumal.

If Akumal gets to 10am BEFORE Alaska, I would say that Akumal is in front of Alaska. BUT... this argument is as hold as the reef; it all depends on your perspective.

If the sun rises in Akumal before it does in Alaska, than Akumal is ahead of Alaska. At the FRONT of the line, baby!

Dont know what everyoine is talkin about all this Central Pacific eastern Mountain time zones

never mind all that

ITS ALWAYS HAPPY HOUR IN AKUMAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

time just doesnt mattter well maybe a little. Only time you need to know is when the bar opens and closes.

I go with when its light out you drink and lay in the sun and when its dark you sleep. you may want to eat somewhere in there but thats up to you

Google is an amazing tool!

You could google image, time zone maps and see what you get. You can also google DST changes and see what comes up.

The sun got to Akumal 3 hours before it gets to me in Alaska (If it is sunny that day). i can remember it that way. 3 hours was the number i was looking for...this forum is so incredibly helpful. BTW - happy hour start as soon as the drink cart rolls down the plane's aisle when we have left Anchorage....sooner if I score an upgrade. Thanks again. It will be happy hour in one week. Happy hour will last almost 6 weeks this trip
