Was wondering if anybody has tried to use the Straight Talk phones from Walmart while in the Roo? Just got one and it works great here and has an international plan but haven't found anybody that has it.

We have used an ATT "Go Phone" from Walmart. Worked great, not sure if that is the same phone? International plan is 25 cents per min to US for call, and I think 10 cents per txt. Is that the same? Walgreens has the go phone for 9.99 right now. Have a great trip!

Not sure about the "Straight Talk" phone but another vote for the ATT Go Phone. It worked perfect for us. $ 0.25 per minute and at the end of a call or text it showed the cost of the call and the remaining balance.
It worked everywhere we went between Cancun & Tulum.

It's not the same phone. It's the Walmart one and you don't pay by the minute, you buy a monthly plan. It's $45 a month for unlimited calling, text, and data and so far we've had great service everywhere. You can get unlimited international for $15 more, so if it works it would be a good deal. I called them and they said they work off of Verison towers so I shuold be good to go. I usually skype so guess I'll have backup if the "straight talk " doesn't work. Thanks

I use Straight Talk in the US (LOVE it). My husband did extensive research last year before going to the Roo and was told that, even using the International Plan, it would not work to call here, from there. We ended up buying the AT&T Go Phone on sale at Radio Shack ($10) and bought the $25 plan - and it worked great.
If you find that the Straight Talk international plan does work, please let us know!
