Is it recomended to go there in a rental car? A few years back we started down there but did't really know what was there, now we would like to spend a day exploring the area...Anything we should know or do along the way?Leaving from oasis tulum.

It can be a lot of fun, last time I drove it, I was traveling solo (could not talk anyone else into leaving ABR) so it is a little hard to be both the driver and the navigator (who watches out for potholes). Just stopped for a couple of beers at Rancho Sol Caribe and then drove back. There is a small fee (20 or 30 pesos) to pay when you enter the Biosphere, they give you a wristband to show you have paid the fee. I could not find the proper entrance to Xamach Dos (was not well marked) or I would have also stopped there. Have fun
