Hi folks. Chris here, now living in Vancouver WA. We love Akumal and are considering buying a condo. Would love to hear what others have experienced. Can you make enough with rentals to cover your mortgage? Thanks!

Jim700 - live in So California
Many since th early 1980"s - including Grand Oasis, Catlonia, Sandos Characol, Viva Wyndham Maya and Fiesta Americana (Cancun 1984) and now ABR this year. Lately one trip to Cancun and one to DR each year.
We enjoy the quiet beach under a palapa and good book with ocasional (2 per day) snorkling adventures. Shell collecting when we need exercise. Been to all the ruins ( all very interesting and good hikes to the top of the pyramids) before the tourist busses arrive.
Favorite drink is the Tequila sunrise - never had a bad one

Thanks for this great forum that will help me feel good while anticipating my next stay there

- Laurencia here (Spanish for "Laurence" which is a girl's name in France)

- Yeap, I'm French, sorry about that LOL). I live in Brittany, France. A beautiful region but where the weather and the sea are much too cold for me...

- 3 visits so far. First one in 1986 when I worked at the Club Med Cancun. Finally decided to return last year and totally fell in love with the Riviera Maya, went back in May this year. Next trip either in fall or next spring.

- definitely swimming in the warm, turquoise Caribbean sea. Love dancing too.

- Mojito!!!

I'm Tamie and my husband, Dave, and I are in Fresno, CA.  We've never been to Akumal, or the Riviera Maya, but the area sounds heavenly and we can't wait for our first trip next April!  Now if I can only decide 100% on a resort, we'll be good to go.

Thank you all for the valuable info on LG!

I joined this forum back in 2005 when I lurked for a year or two but we never pulled the trigger on our plans to visit Akumal. Well, I'm back and will be planning our first Akumal trip to take place early 2013. Since it has been a while, and I think my only prior post was introductions, I thought I would introduce myself again.

1. name or LG board name - Homecrew - Mark
2. place you live ie: state/territory/country - Charlotte NC
3. number of visits to Akumal/Riviera Maya and when you are going back? We've never been to Akumal but have been twice to Cancun.
4. favorite area activity - relaxing, walking the beach, enjoying happy hour
5. favorite vacation drink - Cerveza Fria is a good start
