Hello there.. just want to get some advice on lower level single bed units at Vista Del Mar. I will be heading down early before the rest of the family and need a place to stay for a couple of days that is decent and reasonably priced for one person. Would like to get any feedback from the single bed units at Vista Del Mar. Thanks.

Book early! I tried for next month and they are booked, except the 3 bedroom.

I notice they have units listed for 90 dollars and 110 dollars for two bed units. Are the studio units the 90 dollar units? Thanks.

SnorkelHound i believe that would be the hotel next store to the condo`s. I have not stayed there and have only seen pictures of the rooms.Maybe someone who has stayed in the hotel part will chime in and give you some info.

We have stayed at the Vista del Mar Hotel several times. For the price, it's very nice indeed. The rooms are fairly small, but clean and nicely decorated. The downstairs rooms have a small patio right on the beach, the upstairs have a balcony with a beautiful ocean view. The beach here is very quiet. The only drawback is that Half Moon bay is not the best place for swimming, as it's full of coral, rocks and sea urchins - fine for snorkeling.

Thanks for the great advise. Looks like I will be staying in the Vista Del Mar Hotel on the second floor. Other question is internet access in the hotel and safe boxes. Does anyone know if internet connection is available in the hotel units and if there are safe boxes to lock up valuables? Thanks.

Sound good crunch... I think I have made up my mind and will book.... looks like I will be able to spend 5 days there at the hotel before my wife and son show up and then we will say at Playa Caribe for five days. Looks like Vista Del Mar is more than enough for me alone. Bar close by, great snorkeling and nice weather is all I need! Thanks for the input.

I stayed in the hotel a couple years back.  They had safes in most rooms and were installing them in the rest so I'm sure they all have them now.  I stayed on the 2nd floor and it was very nice and resaonble price.  It had a water cooler, small coffee maker, a couple small plates, glasses silverware and a 1/2 fridge.  I think it also had a small microwave.  And TV much not many english channels.  Well equipped and very clean when i was there.  I would consider it again.  However I do know someone that left a camera on their porch table on the ground floor.  It disappeared while they were inside.

TwirleyB,
That is why I always like a room above ground level - you can leave your snorkel gear out on the porch to dry out without having to worry about it going missing. Sounds like the hotel is what I am going with. I have snorkeled HMB plenty of times and know it well. As long as the water is calm it is great snorkeling. Less people to contend with as well. On the windy days I hike on over to Akumal and snorkel there. Cant wait to get there now! Only problem is that small refrigerator will only hold so many cold ones... will have to keep restocking I guess. Thanks for the input.

I will have to post my dates and see if there are any other LGers there while I am there by myself. It would be nice to have a snorkel buddy or two to share the experience with.

Luckily for you there is the Corner Store and Midway steps away!

SH - WiFi works very well in the VDM hotel. My friends used it every day last year with no problems. Safes are available in all rooms now (there is also a safe in lobby). Definitely no worried about leaving any snorkel equipment out to dry (even on ground level). One year there was a mask and fins left out on the beach, unattended and undisturbed, for the entire 7 days we were at VDM! (and they were pretty nice too!!!)
