I have always found this forum very informative with descriptions and photo's. That is why I am surprised that no one has posted photos of what is going on at ABR. I have seen one photo of the rope posts up to the moonrise bar. Has it been dismantled?? but what about the other area's. the only reason I want to see more photo's is out of curiousity. I guess some may not want to post for fear of some the comments that follow. if that is the case please PM me with photos if you have time or feel like it.
I have been to Akumal in the early 80"s when there was no ABR so it is kinda like reading a book that doesn't have an ending. I love the area and the people (locals and gringos). maybe you are like me, when you go down, you don't take photos anymore, I can understand that.

Will post some pics if folks want to see. If I was considering staying at ABR I'd like to see the changes.

I would love to see what it's going to look like, since we're leaning towards booking again for April. We never really spent much time down by the Moonrise. My hubby & son gave the ping-pong table a good work out both times we were there, but otherwise we only went down to the Moonrise for drinks once each trip. We hang out in a palapa in front of the pool/snack bar - and I'm hoping that the area there won't be innundated with day-trippers/snorkel-trip folk? That would ruin it for us. Otherwise we'll be fine with the changes, I think....

I'm hoping for pictures, too. Just out of curiousity....

Just received an email from ABR Assistant Manager and he states no construction is going on at the present time.

There's no posted photos of construction because no 'construction' has actually started - yet.

Posts went in at the end of November.

There is now barbed wire around the openings

Oh, it just hurts, doesn't it. That little grove of palm trees was such a great place to hang out all day.

wow! thanks for posting the pics. Seems like the posts have made the beach small in that particular spot. not liking that. Will miss the Swing bar but we usually hangout on the south side of the round building. I hope there are enough palypas for everyone there (especially in February when we are there). I imagine there will be lines at the main bar and grill bar for adult beverages! but hey, could be worse, I could be stuck in Nebraska in freezing temps.
