We boarded a bus to Cancun to catch our next bus and left the quiet of PM behind for the sensory overload of Merida. The ride was comfortable, quiet, and took 4 hours. Joanne and I got a cab to Luz en Yucatan and my sister a cab to her friends place where she will be staying till early Feb. Luz was fantastic! An oasis from the busy streets of Merida. The staff was professional but so laid back. A real gem of a place! The Galvez Market was super packed with everything that was ever made anywhere ever! It's a must do. We rented a car from Easyway for a day. They were just a block from where we were staying. Headed to Cuzama for the cenote rail tour. Another must do! The water was warmer than other cenotes we've been in. We went to a street fest one evening. Half of the Av. Paseo de Montejo was closed to traffic and was filled with singers, dancers, and crafters. The place was packed and I was chosen to do an interview on TV! That was fun. I know we have already done a "Food porn" slideshow but the food in Merida is.......................... fantastic! From early morning breakfast to late night street snacks, whatever you have a taste for is there.

Enjoy the slideshow and music! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnyrdts1jo0

Maggie. The reporter wanted to know what was going on at ABR....... Really, she wanted to know if I thought the festival was informative about the history of the Mayan people. And yes it was. A great night on the streets of Merida! Tony

Wow. That railcar ride per horse to the cenotes looked like quite an adventure.
You could not have paid me enough either to climb down into that well for that 3rd cenote. Brave folks that did though! Thanks for posting T&J.
Looks like a fun time.
