Remember last year we had a thread running with help with clothes shoes, nails etc?
Can we start another?
I am looking for help to find comfortable and affordable easy to wear and not too short dresses. A lot to ask?
Thanks!

Best dresses I ever bought were from Sears Catalogue (Canada) last year. They were all poly cotton blends, colorful, cool and wrinkle resistant. Been looking for more this year but don't see any online.

You just gotta know you are plain ole inviting the men in to this thread. Check out Woman Within, very nice clothing, reasonable prices, nothing a ho would wear.

Title 9 or Athleta. Not the cheapest, but the advantage is that a lot of them wash beautifully in a hotel sink. They're primarily synthetic fabrics, so they don't get sticky (or stinky) in hot weather.

I bought most of my clothes this past summer when they were on clearance and found some great deals. Now I am forced to not gain weight so they all fit in 3 months! lol

I am wondering what you all do about tans. In the past, I've used a tanning bed pre-vacay to get a good base tan, but I'd like to try other options. I use self-tanners, but have noticed that they tend to come off when I'm in the water a lot, and that can lead to some funky-looking lighter areas. I'm considering a spray tan, but I've never done one before. If any of you use spray tan, does it come off in water? Also, how many days before vacay do you do it? Any pros or cons or advice would be welcome.

Every year I say I'm not going to tan. I think this is the year I will follow through. Our kids are coming with us and I would not want them to tan in a booth so it gives me incentive not too. I will get a spray tan. My daughter got one for her prom and it looked great. she got it the day before and it lasted about 5 days with normal daily showering. I also have a self tanning lotion for her this year since she can't get to the spray tan (away at Uni) it's called So Bronze Tinted Self-Tanning lotion it was given to me by a friend who can shop our local wholesale place for hairstylist etc. It works very well.

I don't like the spray tan for the fact that it comes off in the water.
I don't want to contaminate the sealife.
I usually go tan 1-2 times before vaca then work on my real tan in Paradise!

I have never thought about the sea life impact potential, but I will now. Thank you for bringing that up! In the past, I have always spray tanned and been fairly happy. I'm very fair skinned, so while I look better with some color, I of all people should not get that from the sun. I need SPF! I've done Mistic Tan and topped it off with my own spray over the course of our vacation. If anyone does go for Mistic, I can only advise to go get sprayed, then go home. I went at lunch once and realized on the bathroom that afternoon that I looked like an Oompa Loompa. Quitting time could NOT come soon enough, lol!

Oops - I thought the link went to the correct page - no, it's the one on the cover with the flowers. Much more "lively" colors in real life, very Caribbean I thought. And I got one of the swimsuits too!!

If you get a spray tan exfoliate well before going to get the mystic tan or doing it yourself. It will go on more even an last longer as you have sloughed off the dead skin that the spray tan would have attached to.

I just got the 8 way dress for Christmas. I haven't used it yet but it fits really nicely and I'm looking forward to using it in Maui.

SIMP posted this link a while ago for something called a saress....a combo of dress and sarong. Here is the site. I never did get around to ordering.. Last trip I did see some really cute sun dresses in Tulum town, which I didn't purchase at the time, and now regret not doing so.

If I remember & have time, I try to pre-tan 5-6 times first, preferably outside with the real thing. Otherwise I start with #30 in strategic places (don't forget butt cheeks if snorkeling! ) & 15 everywhere else. After ~3 days, I use #15 everywhere except chest backs of knees & butt cheeks (if I'm in the water, most likely I'm snorkeling!). I do use a lower number on most of my legs as well.

I 2nd Title 9 or Athleta!! Great quality! I've been wearing skirts & dresses from both of these places for travel & everyday for many years know and they still look brand new.

Last year I found a few right above the knee dresses at Gap, the Loft and Banana Republic on sale.

No chip manicures are a must with all the swimming. I had one last time and my nails looked PERFECT when I got home.
