I have walked to Yal-ku lagoon from the public beach area in Akumal several times. However now due to knee problems I was wondering if there are any golf cart rentals in the area or is taxi the best way to get there? Any suggestions? Also does anyone know the distance between the two?

Golf carts can be rented from the little art/knick knack shop just inside the arch. I think its called Mexiarte? Taxis are always available just outside the arch across from the Super Chomak.

A fellow called Marcelo will rent a golf cart to you out of the white arches for $20 US for 4 hrs ($20 extra deposit)

From the arches to La Buena Vida is 1 km , then 1 more km to Yal-Ku

We have rented golf carts twice now and drove them to YaKul. It was fun and worked out very well. Four hours is plenty of time. I'd rather do that than take a taxi. Four ppl fit nicely on the golf cart. One of the two times, it was four ppl and one young daughter. A little tight but do-able.

They are adamant about four people max to a cart. Even if the 5th person is a child.
