Seriously thinking about Christmas 2013 in Akumal but wondering how much the airfares are. Airline bookings do not allow to book that far in advance and I am wondering if any Calgarians know how much airfares are during the Xmas high season. We normally pay around $715 per person.

Is there really any way to tell what they will be a year from now? If so I'd like to have that crystal ball too please.

The WestJet prices for November 2013 are the same as what we paid for August 2012 so I would not expect the 2013 holiday season prices to differ much from the 2012 prices (barring any sudden increases in fuel prices). Of course seat sales are occasionally offerred but I doubt any deals are ever available for the holiday season.

I agree it would be nice to know in advance. We like to book our trips early.. sometimes we have to wait for this very reason.

I am not planning on booking this far in advance. Just wondering how crazy the prices are and if we can actually swing it. We have a $300 WestJet credit that must be used by Feb. 8th which will dampen the blow.

I have been constantly checking flights for April-May 2013 and the pricing is APPALLING!
Last year we paid $645 return (direct flight YYC to Cancun) taxes etc all in. This year i am looking a flights that are $640 one way direct to Cancun from YYC before all the tax and extra charges. CRAZY!!!
Lousy pricing for seat sales - that all drag you through Toronto first.

If I fly from Abbotsfor to Calgary and then to Cancun I can save $200 - and that flight that Abbotsford connects to is the same one that cost $649 if you book Calgary to Cun.
NUTS!!!!!

If you can book November now that may mean you can book Christmas next month . That might be the best time . I was forced to wait until fairly last minute and paid dearly for seperate flights with two different carriers . Condo rentals increase by 50% from early November lows and car prices double or more , both based on supply and demand . We have been south for the last ten Christmas holidays and always pay lots more for everything with more crowded beaches . Normally we must travel then or not until March . Good luck

We are also looking at going for Christmas and new year, 2013. I know we will pay dearly, but it's the 20th anniversary so we will just have to suck it up. Last year we paid almost $1000 per person for that same time. That is nor quite twice what we usually pay. Expect it to hirt a bit.
