So the Pharmacia is really nice and clean! And the Clinic was friendly and spotless too!! My daughter stepped on a sea urchin and got 11 spines in her foot which blew up nice and purple....and it hurt! So, we made a quick trip to the Clinic across the hiway....The doc took great care and explained why it hurt and why you dont pull them out. gave her a shot for pain and soaked it in really hot water for 30 mins. Apparently the spines are hollow and leave behind (in her foot) a powdery substance that is mostly calcium and pigment that gives it the dark color! (who knew)

She is doing great and the best part was that right beside the pharmacy was a small wooden shack with a grill and the smell that was filling the clinic was so yummy. The doc told us its the best chicken and super fresh. We bought a bunch of food shared some of it with the local stray dogs who looked hungry and cute) and went home to a delicious (gluten free!!) dinner

A lazy day with a little adventure and we are still in love with this place. Tomorrow its off to the Yal Ku lagoon to see if we can avoid the urchins that are at the north end of half moon bay!

Very happy for you that the urchin mishap didn't darken your day... too much. My DH and I, over many years, have both had several experiences with doctors and clinics in different places in Q.Roo, and all have been very good... better care and less costly then at home.

Ahhhh, flat chicken! Isn't it wonderful?! If you find anyone cooking ribs on those grills, they are also fabulous.

Sounds like you're having a wonderful time. Have a very Merry Christmas in Akumal with your family!

Glad your daughter is ok and you're enjoying your time in Paradise.  You'll find a lot of good places to eat in the Pueblo plus just about everything else is cheaper than the shops on the beach side of the highway.

Is there still a clinic on the beach side of highway 307? I seem to recall one 3-4 years ago. And, would this clinic be handled by the pueblo Doctor, or someone else?

have fun on your vacation. but keep an eye on her in the months that follow, I got a spine of two in my joints of my hand and althought very small, they caused some problems later on. happened to me at half moon bay also. may never be a problem butgood to keep an eye on them.

the doctor i called was located across the hiway and he was great. It was the number that the owner of our Villa had in her welcome book....She was well cared for but i will say that her foot is still bothering her 3 days post urchin....we keep on soaking it though!!

I will keep an eye and take her to the doc when we get home if there any issues!

Our son and daugher ran into urchins while snorkeling a few weeks ago. Our daughter did a number on her wrist and went to the doctor here at home after it started looking worse. He gave her some stronger ointment and also told her to get some shaving cream and shave her arm. She did that a few times as well as applying the ointment and she's much better now.
