Info por favor?  I can get a deal on Living Social for 4 nights in a suite for 2 peeps for 608.00 usable April - Dec 2013.  Is this a good deal?  What about the location to other restaurants etc?

Twirley,

While I have not stayed there we did drive to it on a golf cart. Looks nice and has oceanfront, pool, bar & a restaurant. It is in the middle of the island and would be too far to walk to Playa Norte. I would think you would want or need a golf cart the entire time to explore the island.

Heading the NW Arkansas this evening. I will look east and give you a wave!

Twirls, I am pretty sure crunch y Tomas stayed there a few years ago, maybe shoot them a PM? I have only eaten there every time for last night on the island, terrific Northern Italian for the most part. It is south, on Sac Baho peninsula so you would need to rent a golf cart or take taxis which are not too expensive anyway. Have fun

This place is PURE luxury.

We've stayed there twice and the rack rate is usually around $300 per night. It's fun to snorkel over to the dolphin prison next door to the hotel not only to freak out the trainers but the best fish sightings are under and around the Dolphin Discovery pier.

At VR you get a cont. breaky and EITHER lunch or dinner.

I'll say one thing for sure. I had never had dinner like THAT before. Fancy stuff there and very good.

I could go on and on about the best and strangest shower I've ever seen (water comes from everywhere) or the nice hot tubs on the small decks or even the fact that your transfer from Playa Linda in Cancun on the trimaran Cocoon is included but it's time to head out from work.

Thanks, hesitating and I only have 12 days to book.  Anyone else with info??
I think it sounds like a good deal.  It comes with 2 -  35 minute massages and YACHT transport to Isla from Cancun.  Dunno about meals yet.  Never been to Isla so the more info the better.

You would love the food . It is true gourmet. They have a lovely little beach and some nice snorkeling. It is very much off on it's own, but if you rent a golf cart you can go completely around the island easily. Neat little turtle sanctuary right down the road. It is the quiet end of the island and very beautiful and luxurious.

If you want I can try to find my old PB account if I even have the password any longer. I have pictures of the room etc.

It is also small. Very much a boutique hotel.

If you can get it at a good price then grab it.

Rolandi is the only place I've seen that they had actually labeled all the light and fan switches in the room.

And if you stay on the top floor you can look up and be awe-inspired by the domed, completely brick ceiling where each brick was laid in place one by one.

This place really is unique in its own way.

I'm gonna re-read that report, thanks Tomas
FYI, the continental breakfast is still included but the partial AI is now optional, so the rooms are a bit more affordable. Always wanted to stay there but when we were there last, rooms with the partial AI plan were $395 in off season, so that seems like a really good deal. Be sure and visit Villa la Bella B&B on the Caribbean side (yellow house with a sign that says "beer so cold it will hurt your teeth, no kids allowed, guests are OK for drinks and they make killer margs and Pina Coladas from scratch (no mix).

Now salivating and drooling after reading your trip report.  I'm not a person that needs luxury rooms.  Fabulous food is another matter!  Gonna have to spit shine and polish Bernie for Villa Rolandi!

Make SURE to get a golf cart and explore the island. VR is not representative of the true vibe of Isla, IMHO. The majority of the restaurants are in the Centro, downtown, area. There are fun little Mom & Pop places all over, with several choices right at the market, as well as throughout many neighborhoods. You might check this Islaholic's website for info:

I have to admit this resort is on my 'list' of places I would like to stay.  I have not run in to the right deal at the right time, yet, but surely someday.....Knowing that Crunch y Tomas have stayed there and reviewing their trip report.....makes it very appealing.

I think you are going to love this place, for such a small island they have an amazing amount of good restaurants in all price ranges. Hoping to tack on 3-4 nights at the end of this trip I am hoping to take next May.

I got that Living Social Deal and I thinks it's fabulous.  VR STARTS at $300 per night and UP!  We were staying in a condo a few minutes away from VR when we were on Isla last month.  It's very quiet on that part of the island and is really restful and relaxing.  VR is absolutely beautiful - very gorgeous.  We splurged on dinner there on our last night and it was a real treat.  Get used to the luxury for heaven's sake - everyone needs some luxury in their lives!!!!!

You'll need a taxi to get into El Centro - only approx $5 each way (takes about 10mins), so much cheaper than renting a golf cart.  We did, however, rent one for a couple of days so that we could explore the island and stop off anywhere we wanted to be.  Loved the local neighbourhoods.  Lots of great restos and bars in El Centro - many of them right on the beach.  In the town, enjoy the great pizzas at Rolandi's and incredible Meditteranean food at Olivia's (you'll probably need a reservation at the latter).  Amazing sunsets every night.

Not sure when whale shark season is, but you should try that.   I've never done it, but would love to do so.

Go for it - you'll love VR and Isla Mujeres.

Crunchie - just read your trip report - I want to go back to Isla NOW!!!  We used make sure we were on the beach around Ixchel, Sunset Beach, etc. most night - drinkies and sunsets.  Great beach cafes close to ferry dock - Ballyhoo's, Minininos, Las Brisas Grill (I think) - all great "toes in the sand" places.

Your description of VR made me weep - sounds like heaven to stay there.  We were treated like royalty when we went for dinner.  No harm in immersing yourself in luxury and pampering - it's good for the soul!  What a heavenly "splurge".

I see you went to Playa Tiberon - our condo was next door - a two minute walk along the beach, which was pretty much deserted when we were there - bliss.  Continue walking another 5 mins and there's Zamas Beach Club - very fab - but we stayed on our own beach and pool every day.
