Has anyone done this tour with the 40minute channel float down the natural river by the Sian Biosphere south of Tulum? I would love to hear from anyone what they thought of this...was there much birdlife to observe and did you fee it was worth it? Cheers, Linda

We did the tour in May a few years ago and did not see any birds from the boat or in the water as part of the channel float. The channel float was fun, the ruins are interesting, the forest tour was enlightening, but our guide that day was into plants and trees, not birds. We saw birds around the Muyill ruins when we went back there on another day about 8 a.m. on our own. We drove in first to where the boats are docked on the lake because we got there before the ruins opened. There was a sign on the shore you could hire a boat ride independently of any tour company. The access to the lake is about a mile south of the ruins and is not marked. Just take the first dirt road heading to the ocean after the ruins. Just 5 minutes southwest of Tulum town on highway 307 are two beautiful crystal clear cenotes which are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, floating. Cenote Cristal is like a natural swimming pool surrounded by palm trees, dancing iguanas and colorful singing birds. Cenote Escondido / Hidden can be found by going to the entrance of Cenote Cristal. Entering Cenote Escondido includes a 1 km walk or drive through natural jungle filled with chit palms, all types of jungle fauna and exotic trees. Watch for families of spider monkeys in the trees above. We loved it.
