Hi all, thanks for the great forum.

I will be in Akumal March 19-26, and I would like to do one or two half day fishing charters during my stay.

Just wondering what is best that time of year... Morning or Afternoon? Trolling or Jigging or...? Would I be better off fishing from a panga from Akumal, or a boat from Peurto Adventuras? If fishing from Akumal is just as good, is it possible to book with Francisco in advance? I have read a lot of praise for him, and would really like to fish with him if at all possible.

I went out in the afternoon last March (earlier in the month) on a panga. We trolled from Akumal to Peurto Adventuras, spent a bit of time trolling there, and then back to Akumal without a bite. I know this happens and is part of fishing, but if there is anything I can do to Improve my odds this year I would really like to.

If anyone is interested in splitting a charter, I would like to fish either one or two half days sometime between march 20-25. Shoot me a PM.

Thanks for any Info or advice,

-Bricklayer

Bricklayer, I would be happy to set you up with Francisco, he is a close personal friend, just send me an e-mail. To answer some of your other questions, Late March is high-season for sailfish. You DEFINITELY fish the same water whether going out in a skiff from Akumal or going out in a large sportfisher out of Puerto Aventuras. Fishing out of the skiff will certainly get you more bang for your buck, but it's not for everyone and Wasabi Loco is a very reputable operation that I would highly recommend. If you have more questions, feel free to ask in your email and I will probably give you more information than you even want.--Jim
