Folks found this camera at a dive shop, and now leisure pro is selling it at a very nice price $169.95, less a $30.00 rebate. Basically a point and shoot, shock resistant, etc:

http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/SLFM2.html#SpecificationInfoTab

- Depth: Individually depth tested to 133' (40 m)
- Buoyancy: Slightly negative
- Operating temp: 33 degrees F to 110 degrees F
- Storage temp: -20 degrees F to +140 degrees F

It won't be your best camera, but we want something to go kayaking with, catch candid shots and not worry too much about.

Just thought I'd share with you folks.

Was going to start a new thread, same topic, only feedback on Olympus TG-1. Spendier than UHK cam in question at ~$350. Underwater to 40 feet, shockproof, etc, ultra bright 2.0 lens. Are there other non housing cams to consider in this class?? Would use for snorkeling les than 12 feet, and use on boat where it probably would intermittantly get wet. Anyone use this cam, or had good luck with similar? What about UHK's cam in question??

We just had another great trip with our Fuji XP-10 and Fuji XP-20 cameras.

My previous camera was the SeaLife EcoShot. Rated to 100 feet. Leaked in 2 feet.Makes a great $200 paperweight.

This new SeaLife is a different design and looks better built than the one I had. Gracias for the info, Bob!

There is a video of running, while a truck drives over it, granting a real nice view of the tire tread and it keeps on working.

Just ordered a new Fuji XP 50. had an XP10 that lasted about 4 years. Good pics and good budget camera. Got the new one for $159.95 Cnd. - they were on Amazon.ca yesterday for 139.95 US - shipping of $60 changed my mind :) The XP 50 does HD video also - will have to get a larger memory card.

Hi.
Had a top line Olympus... died while snorkeling. Now have a Fuji XP 20 and has been great. I am not sure i could justify doubling the cost of the Fuji and have a questionable seal on a waterproof camera.
Just my opinion...
Rich

Pulled the trigger on the Oly TOUGH TG-1iHS. Amazon was back up to $390, and Optical Ocean Sales back up to $399. Found it for $304.
Will use mostly topside in boats, kayaks, around water, etc. Wife will probably snorkel with it, but I have a Canon T1i housed in a Sea and Sea, and also a DX1200HD w/ Sea and Sea housing. Wish me luck.

I've had my Nikon AW100 in the water a dozen times. Takes great pics in and out. The price has come down almost $100 in the last year. Probably shot close to 1500 pics.

Hey!

Just ordered a Canon Powershot D20 camera. Takin it on it's first trip in December down that way. Gonna snorkel with it and do land shots with it. See how well it works.

Will do a report on it. Be there in Playa and Akumal Dec.12th to 20th. 2 nights Playa, then 4 nights Akumal, then 2 nights Playa again.

Hope in goes better than the pentax optio, so-called waterproof camera I had. Was brutal. Leaked first time I used it. Fail!!!

Let us know how that one works out for you! Will do the same here.

Good Luck.

Cheers!

Doug

I will be interested to see your review on how it works. My D10 started having a small issue on my trip a couple of weeks ago so I am investigating a replacement.

I'm debating between the D10 and the D20. Any arguments on which one might be better?

Well, from what I've seen on here. People prefer the D10 but the D20 is new so.... I go with the new, hehehehe I had an older Olympus tough. Was awesome but then it leaked and has been screwed ever since. I looked at replacing the seals but it was just too painful to try and get replacement seals so I trashed it. Was a great camera for like 5 to 6 years I think I had it, though the reviews on the new ones aren't so good. The D20 reviews seem good. Will know in 2 weeks myself though. I will post my review and some pics when I get back. If it doesn't fair well, will return it and go with a sealife camera

And as for the Optio I had, it failed first time, brutal!!! GArbage cam now too , lol.

Cheers!

Doug

His does. Mine, however, had to be charged every night because I left it on the whole time every time.

RE - Battery life on Fuji
I keep my camera on the whole time we are snorkelling (turn off the auto off) so that I don't miss shots because my camera has shut off and the battery usually lasts me the whole day. I do shut the camera off when I come out of the water though. The battery usually lasts me the whole day and that is with a few videos taken. The nice thing about the Fuji is the battery charges in just a couple of hours although that is a moot point when you have to wait until the camera is completely dry before taking the battery out to charge it :)

This last trip I just got into the habit of charging the Fuji batteries every night. The Fuji charger is very small and the prongs fold for easy packing. Also, the batteries can be found in the Internet for about $3 and they work quite well. The first extra battery I bought was $68! Take along a couple extra batteries but do remember that they are lithium and must be packed with protection and taken in your carry-on.

Thank you for the tip about getting the batteries on the internet..........we bought our Fuji back in June - only used it once though.
