We are splitting out time between Akumal & Isla this year for the first time. Have been looking at El Milagro cabanas at their marina, great reviews on TA. Any other ideas in the $100 or less range, don't need much, just a room for 3 nights.

Our first trip to Isla we stayed at Posada del Mar.went for 2 days for a whale shark trip. It's across the street from the beach..was only about 25usd..I read they've done some renovations and may be more, but since not beachfront..still cheap..nice rooms and a great location if you want to be in a central spot..right across the street from the beach and downtown.. Got great rates at the Avalon when we decided to stay longer...loved it there too!..be sure to rent a golf cart and tour the island..go thru the center, Las Colonias..decent snorkeling by the Avalon bridge..incredible sunsets!..tons more info from peeps here, if you decide that's where you want to go..

Good info from Jeannemarie, I would go for the rooms in the new building (not new section) since they have in room safes and mini-fridges. I have also stayed at Cabanas Maria del Mar in May and paid $80-85. Pool,, small fridge, AC, right on North Beach with restaurant and pool and swing bar. Have a great time

Villa Ki"inn by the Avalon bridge, clean, inexpensive and on the little bay there...and Hotel Cabanas Maria Del Mar on North Beach!

Last year we stayed at Posada del Mar and next month we are staying at Villa Ki'inn because of the location. Great tip on the snorkeling at the Avalon bridge. Like being close to Hildago street too.

Depending on the time of year for specials, but for 3 days I'd really like Playa Media Luna Hotel or Nautibeach.
