From what I have read, Patron Citronge = Mexican Controy. Patron is just re-labeling the Controy brand. Bottles are exactly the same. I have a bottle of both at home- they seem the same in taste, smell and viscosity (Controy has that syrup-py consistency, if youknowwhattamean). But if they are different, I'll be all over the Controy! GH

We always bring home Controy and use it sparingly, on special occasions, mostly. As for Cointreau, I just can't see paying their price...about triple what we pay in MX for Controy. No wonder they're filing suit against Controy...they've got a monopoly and can charge whatever they like.

Agree that Citronge is yucky. I also don't really care for Controy. I'm not all about fancy, shmancy, but I'll pay triple the cost for the flavor of Cointreau. Only $25 per litre at the Cancun Airport, and it lasts long, long time. Simp! quote:

We use Contoy, makes a great margarita. Always use fresh lime juice.

We only bought Citronge once. I must not remember clearly how it tasted vs. Controy (that was a large pitcher of Margaritas). We also have a couple of bottles of Controy and use it sparingly, only with a homemade recipe from an LG post a couple of years ago. Good to know- I won't be tempted to try the Citronge again. GH
