Saturday, Babs and I, C&C and Patty1975 spent some time talking to Renato about the planned construction here at the ABR. Renato said demolition of buildings 1&2 will be starting soon, they will be replaced by new rooms, although the buildings might extend farther back away from the beach. Construction expected to take up to 2 years. Also, at some point the Moonrise Bar we be demolished, to be replaced in some form in the future. Renato said an efforrt will be made to save all of the signs at the bar, except tor those so deteriorated that it will be difficult to remove them without destroying them. Some good news, he said at some point soon they will be getting nice seat cushions for ALL of the wooden chairs at the resort. There are currently no plans to install Wifi in the new rooms, but tubing wilL be put in place so that it may be an option in the future. He shared much more with us, but a lot of the plans are not yet finalized and right now the beach is calling me.

ORIGINAL: barata That's the main reason I go to bed, numb butt. Come to think of it those chairs have probably saved me from numb brain a few times. Thank God!!! I'm so with barata... My congenital extra vertebrae & prehensile tail can't take much more of those bar chairs. Snow

Wegamoose, that was the best post on this topic, here's hoping it stays small. Sad to see the Moonrise go though.

most resorts go max of 3 floors Perhaps a U Shaped building facing out to the Moonrise with an Adults only pool in the centre A protected area - zoning - nothing some pesos can't overcome

sigh, I really hope the construction won't be too noisy when we're threre, our favorite palapa is right in front of bldg 1. The interesting part is that there will be new rooms extending back into the jungle, but, if the zoning holds true, and they can't add more rooms, perhaps the rooms themselves will be the new premium rooms, and will be larger, and perhaps even nicer than the current superior rooms. I've said for a while now that ABR might want to consider creating some time share rooms, with kitchens in them and sitting areas, for those of us who would purchase a share. I know we would love to have a time share at ABR. That said, we do not, repeat do not, want to see time share sharks hanging around ABR. If that's what it would mean, forget I ever said anything. As far as cushions on the chairs, all I can say is, hallelujia! Now if they could throw in a few ceiling fans in the restaurants, I'd be thrilled.
