Seems like someone on here suggested printing out on a piece of paper the translation regarding your allergy, then presenting it to waiters/cooks, etc. Might be easier than trying to get your point across if you don't speak Spanish well.
We ate out a couple of times with rucruizin on this last trip, you may want to PM her as I know she also spoke to the staff at restaurants about her allergies - ask her how she handles it.

There are some old posts to search here at LG in the archives about peanuts and other allergies to food . There are spanish cards for gluten and probably for Tree nuts . Try some google . We deal with gluten and dairy intolerance but the nut ingredients can also be sneaky , I can see with only a quick look . The more you know and can say or point to , the better your trip will be . Cheers

Every one in my family have nut allergies except me....but I am severely allergic to kiwi...we have taken cards...but have found it best to ask for an employee that speaks good English to translate to the waiters and kitchen staff for us.....we have never eaten where this was not possible. It may eliminate some restaurants for you...but better to be safe than sorry...a heads up is mole sauce will most likely always have nuts in it..so we stay clear of those. We also travel with liquid Benadryl and an abundance of twinject epi pens....and alre conscious of where the nearest medical help would be.

Oh gosh, heaven forbid... Allergic to nuts. Haha, I'm allergic to everything else, if it makes you feel any better. I have a longer list of things I cannot eat, than things I can.
I know what you mean, you hand them the card, sometimes they look at you, like you have 3 heads. You say it in spanish, you get the same look.
I'm sorry, I can't help. I thought my spanish was pretty good, apparently, I cannot even get the waiter to bring both SIMP and I the same dish, She got half, I got the other... oh well. It's always fun.
Good luck with your food allergies. I find, ingeneral, I have a much easier time eating in Mexico, and not having problems, than the US.
