Absolutely. We bring snacks/boxed/packaged stuff all the time. No worries.

I always take a big bag of assorted miniature chocolates like Kit Kat, Reese's, Hersheys, etc.. I leave a few out every day with a couple of dollars for the maid. If they don't eat it, they'll take it home to their kids.

"Girl's Trip" we bring just about every snack but the kitchen sink including frozen cheese, crackers, candy, granola bars, mini peanutbutters, etc. The only thing we tried to bring but customs threw away was an unopened summer sausage. This year one girl brought homemade jerky in a ziplock bag. I'm surprised it made it through. Also, this year 2 of us had our large bottles of alcohol and wine boxes examined but they made it through as well. Everything should be packaged. The thing that gave me the hardest time was a peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I forgot to throw away on last year's trip. I went to toss it and they made a big deal out of examining it. Who knows. Just leave your meaty type snacks at home and you'll be fine!

We brought tons of granola bars, fruit leathers, peanut butter singles, etc so that we could have something to eat when we hit Puerto Morelos and didn't have to go out if we were wiped out from the trip down.

We were close to a tienda while there, so plenty of snack foods to be had once we were situated. The kids loved picking out things that they had never had.
