So...to be clear, I guess centipedes don't bite or sting...they pinch. So that sucker pinched me 3 times on my shoulder! They pinch and put their venom into you. Not clearly thinking, I grabbed a tissue and picked it up as it was crawling away and threw it down the toilet. Then afterwards thought " oh gee...that was stupid. I can't even identify what it was to a doctor or hospital or whatever! I didn't even get a picture of it for my trip report. What kind of locogingo trip reporter am I?!!" I felt fine except for the burning sensation and pain in my shoulder. I told Jim..."I am not going to the doctor or hospital on our first day. What if they admit me and I lose a couple days of paradise?" I'd rather die. So we headed on over to Imelda's for breakfast. As we were eating, a gecko or something jarred lose a piece of palapa over our head and it comes down on the table next to my plate. Scared the **** out of me! (I have to admit the last 2 weeks I have been very aware/jumpy of any type of tickle from my clothes or cats!) We proceeded to Super Chomak to pick up some food for the cats on the patio and yogurt and beer, my shoulder still inflamed. (still wondering if I was going to die or not). Took a walk down to ABR to see if we could find any LG's, but Moonrise seemed to be closed anytime we went down that way. Headed down the beach and now the whole top of my arm from the elbow up was aching. Decided to go to Turtle Bay for lunch. Saw on the menu they have free WiFi so decided to research the thing that bit me. (I told my son when I left home I was not going to use the internet unless of an emergency. I think being bit IS an emergency!) I typed in MEXICAN BUGS hoping to get some pictures. Darn it!! I was only getting pictures of Volkswagons! Did some more searching. Ok...the thing that pinched me had lots of legs, but they were kind of furry, feathery type things and I get something that says Mexican Caterpillars can be extremely poisonous and can cause DEATH! Get to a doctor immediately if you experience chest pain, difficulty breathing, yada yada yada.......started getting frustrated because I couldn't find a picture of what got me. Had lunch...yummy fish sandwich and went for another beach walk. Decided to wait and see if my arm got worse or not and we'd go to the doctor the next day. As we were walking down the beach, we saw Rudy from Lol Ha. It was his day off, but here he was walking down the beach. Him and Jim have been friends on Facebook since last August when we were there. (we bonded with him because we have a cat named RUDY..lol we told him we wouldn't call him WOO WOO though while he was working). Any way, I decided Rudy would be my official doctor and explained what happened to me while I was sleeping. He said it sounded like a centipede and no they are not deadly. OK...that was enough for me. No more worries the rest of the trip about my arm although it was achey the whole trip. Coming up......2nd day another little incident....... (I hope to get my pictures uploaded this weekend. It's so hard to get done with my foster kitties running around. Right now I have the fat 5 month old sitting on the little 4 week old and she's screaming, while the skinny hyper 5 month old is stuck in the mini blinds above the book shelf!! Gotta go!)

2nd incident was not so bad, but got me thinking this was starting a trend of mishaps this trip. The second day we decided to get in the water and swim. (the first day for us is always explore and check out the area). As we were walking out about waist deep I scraped a rock with my ankle. Didn't think anything of it. Swam and stayed in the water for about 15 mins, get out get a nice chair under the umbrella and get my sunscreen to re apply and see YIKES!!! blood dripping all down my my ankle and foot. Looked like a horror film. Got back in the water and washed it up, but never put anything on it. It's still a little sore and bumpy today. The rest of the trip was pretty safe and sane. I only got 15 moquito bites this year compared to the 100 or so last year. Even though we sprayed ourselves with bug repellent, they still got to us. Cueva and Tequilaville both brought us more cream to apply while we were eating at night. I thought that was really nice of them. Since I don't remember what we exactly did day by day, I will just report the basics and post pictures at the end. We took 1/2 the amount of luggage this year and still only used 1/2 of that. By next year we'll be travelling light! Las Casitas #9 was really great. I will request this unit again next year if we go. I will not request the extra centipede! One thing that was kind of weird was in the 2nd bathroom, the toilet was raised about 5" off the floor with a ceramic tile base. ??? I told Jim it was his throne for the week. Love, love, love this place though. I didn't think anything could top HAC. 50% off for September because of hurricane season, but the weather was excellent. Rained Friday night for about 1/2 hr. Very humid in September, but not nearly like it was last year in August. A security guard patrols day and night, gardener and maid are there daily. 3 cats lived on our patio for the week. Jim named them AriGato, Mustachio, and Buttrashio! One day Jim brought a pizza back to the palapa on the patio for lunch with some nachos he got from Lol Ha. As soon as we opened the box, iguana's started coming out of the bushes and surrounded us as we sat at the table. (OK...so it was only two) I threw down some lettuce and sour cream and they chomped away and licked the sour cream off the patio. Since the centipede incident, I wasn't taking any more chances so I put my feet up on the chair. Didn't want to lose any toes. I tossed some pizza crust to the bird hanging out on the grass, and the iguanas turned and ran after it. The wanted the pizza! We rented bikes $150 pesos for 24 hrs for 2. I did well for not being on a bike for at least 15 years! This trip was mostly for snorkeling, relaxing, and eating, but we did take a cab to Xel Ha on Wednesday. $200 pesos. It was our first time there and we really enjoyed it. $80 USD per adult and includes everything. Even the buffet was all you can drink. Had some excellent pina colada's there. Snorkeled and did the innertubes, rode bikes, hiked, etc...Saw lots of cotamondies (?sp) and these really neat ducks, but unfortunately my camera batteries decided to die right before we got to them. Being low season, we were usually the only ones at any place we went to eat. Imelda's, Loncheria, and Turtle Bay. Cueva del Pescador and Tequilaville had two other tables of guests. The only Locogringo I met the whole trip, was BEACHMUTT!!! The...Famous...Beachmutt!! She came into Cueva with a group and I didn't want to interrupt them, but after 4 beers I decided I wouldn't be shy and introduced myself. Then the guy we had seen at Tequilaville the night before came in and we had a good laugh with him. Went to Naty's for the first time. We followed the map that was posted here (by Badger I think) and had an excellent lunch. Jim decided he would try the barber, but the store was empty. Went to Tequilaville for beer before we decided to finish the walk back and Ken told us the barber had moved around the corner, gave Jim a beer in a red solo cup, and sent him off to get a haircut. $70 pesos. I chatted with Ken and Mary. She was leaving the next day for Canada for 3 weeks. Told Ken we'd be back for dinner another night. (and we did and it was yummy!) So remember if you printed out the map, to move the barber around the corner on the left. Ken was real impressed with the map too! Not so impressed with Lol Ha's food this trip, but the mango margaritas were excellent! It was nice to visit with Rudy too. Walked by ABR a few times hoping to find some LG's, but guess they all left the week before. Didn't ever see anyone at the moonrise bar. I think I had read a trip report that Crunch did where the day they were leaving, they got up and did one last snorkel right before they left, throwing the wet suits in the luggage at the last minute. I did it this trip. Last year it seemed like we wasted a whole day because we got up early, ate a big breakfast, packed and waited around until 3pm for our USA Transfer to pick us up. NO NO NO....not this year! We had a quick bite to eat, went swimming all morning, lounged, enjoyed the last minute up to 12:30 when we had to check out. Dropped off our luggage in the lobby, went to Lol Ha, had a nice lunch, and filled up on mango margaritas until 2:30 and USA Transfers picked us up at 2:45pm. So thank you Crunch for the inspiration and an extra 1/2 day to our trip. Between you and SteveO, Cozumel is really sounding nice if we can get in another vacation every year. Hope to run into you guys sometime! I should be able to get some pictures up this weekend. Thanks for reading! If you have any questions about the Casita's, let me know.

Very nice report, thanks so much Yes several recent reports on the Lol-Ha food situation leads me to think maybe they need to step up their game. Or maybe they are relying more on the daytripper trade?

Centipede under your boob?! I'd have been plastered to the ceiling. Made your trip report so much more unique. Thanks.

Thanks for the report! How did the scrape on your ankle work out? Sometimes these things need extra attention.
