We decided to rent a car for the day to find out ABR does not rent anymore... so after a nice breakfast we headed down the beach...
First stop, the Moonrise to capture Sarnolds sign(s)

Headed down the beach to HAC for a car rental. Serg did an excellent job negotiating the deal with full coverage 90 bucks. 25 minutes and the car will be there... Beer Break! Off to Turtle Bay to tip down some cool ones. The fellow from HAC came over to collect us when the car arrived... completed the paperwork and we were off! Cute little compac.

This little car was rented from Ace and even had a plugin for the MP3 player Serg brought which was loaded with tunage!! First stop to visit Dougs Donkey... Well that little guy whaled out a bray as Serg was walking up... hilarious!!! Was trying to capture it on film... nada :(

Next stop OXXO for a sixpack of Sol Then down to ITours to visit with Alma and a Beer Break

Next stop Tulum... pure beauty!

First stop

The Mojitos with sugar cane were excellent... even the fly on the end of my cane was noch'n on it

Next stop OM

SHHHHHhhhh

More Refreshments

For some reason we couldnt stop laugh'n!

Next stop on the carcrawl.... PA

stay tuned more to come... (more pics added 09.25.12)
More wobbly pops... No top??

PA rents boggy boards

Little snack of chicken and pineapple tacos to keep us going until the next stop...
As we get back into the car Serg loses his MP3 player stick. Fell down a hole in the console by the gear shift....... NO MUSIC. I could touch the player with room enough for only one finger... As we are sumizing a way to retrieve the player ... headed up the beach road to an outcrop of rock that Serg wanted to climb

Next Alto es Chemuyil for shrimp cocktail...

Serg had the large and I had the medium size ... loaded with shrimp!!

At Leo's they were most helpful ~ even tried to get the music player out of the console hole with some of their kitchen tools... to no avail
As most of you know their pizza is the bomb, below are the sizes you can order

Shrimp was good to the bottom of the fish bowl...

Isn't this a classic....

Heading back to Akumal... remember to get gas... woops we forgot to get gas... had to go by Akumal up to the next returno... singing the Lion Sleeps tonight... Nooo Music!!

On the way back to Akumal I gave my buddy Serg the last peice of gum I had, what a true Canadian...

We return the car at HAC and explained about the music player that fell down the console... Well take your problem to a Mayan and they will fix it... Serg spat out his gum onto this guys hand. He first tried retrieving the player using a long pair of scissors and Serg's chewed gum...

Nope that didn't work so he crafted a stick

YES!!! With a propina!! What a sticky mess...

Well look at that it just happens to be happy hour at LolHa .... sit your butt down! Ordered a Caesar and Mango Marg

The clouds did a weird formation, wonderful end of a great day...

Oh of course we had to do the traditional dunk in the pool at ABR after LolHa

Thanks for the wonderful FUN day Serg!!

YES! More photos! Gracias, y'all.

Guess we'll have to add chewing gum to the packing list.

I wonder how the ancient Maya people dealt will this situation?

Looks like a fun afternoon.
Love the pictures. favorites: the only chair you will remember and all the colorful chairs. I borrowed that one for my background picture on the laptop. I think I may send it to my work email so I can have it there. if that's ok with you of course.

In January, gonna be in the Aventuras Akumal area for about 3 weeks before heading down to Xcalak / mahahual for the last 8 days or so. Wanna get to those Tulum beaches for at least a couple full days. Would like to just sip some tequilla, get naked and play in the waves. Probably throw a thong back on for lunch, and repeat. Now I don't wanna spook any kids, but I'm not worried about the adults. For some it's not a biggie, some will freak.
My question is this. In the places you've shown, did you see many kids? Is it pretty isolated earlier in the day - say 9:30ish? January any less crowded? Do I have to get a little farther south for a little more privacy? Seems like several years ago, down by Las Renitas / Los Lirios it was a little more secluded, and there were others playing in the waves with only their birthday suits. I know we'll find plenty of privacy in Xcalak, north of Casa del Sol, and Into the biosphere from the south - north of Mahahual.
Thought of renting a car for the first couple days, get food and groceries - then returning it. Just doin colectivos for a couple weeks or so. Rerenting before heading to Xcalak. But those pix of the Tulum beaches are so sweet, it would be nice to come and go as we please.
Any thoughts?? Anybody?
