I have not posted much on this forum. We bought a condo a yr. ago just off of Coco Beach. Have been renting it and also staying in it a lot, and love the area and town. Yesterday around 3 p.m. as I was walking down Calle 42 towards the beach there were lots of police cars and an ambulance and fire truck. Just behind Natz Ti Ha condos, two floors above Pummarola restaurant, there is a corner apartment. I was told that an Argetinian couple has been renting that apartment long-term. They had a big umbrella at their outdoor patio dining table, and it was open, the woman was eating at the table. When I got to the scene, the umbrella was mangled with a burn hole in it. I was told by others that the umbrella, due to the wind, had hit the power lines that hang very close to the patio, there was quite an explosion, and the poor woman was electrocuted. Apparently she died; the forensic truck pulled up an hr after I got there.

This was of course very upsetting. The woman's husband arrived 45 min. later. How terrible for him.

As I walked around yesterday and today I have been aware of the power lines and where they are in relation to residences. It is something that is good to be aware of.

We have always commented on the electrical work in Mexico. I guess seeing how low a lot of the power lines hang is something to pay attention to. Prayers to the womans family.

so sad...the elecrical work scares the crap outta me..especially in the cenotes/caves @!@

Even the electrical meters are a hazard as they project quite far out toward the sidewalks . Don't talk over your shoulder to your friends as you're walking or you could bonk the Konk pretty hard. , I've seen it happen .
