MMMMMMMMMMMMM..........YO Tango hambre! Bring it! And don't skimp on the slaw. That stuff rocks and goes well with the lionfish.

Cleaning these fish is very labor intensive and a bit dangerous. Last time we were there we watched Marcos clean a few. No way I'm into that.

Question....is there anything questionable in Lion Fish? I ask because of my compromised immune system and I know Barracuda is not good for me to eat.....I can't have ceviche or sushi either - I've heard about her taco stand and we went by it last trip but they weren't open...wasn't sure if there would be some sort of bacteria or something that would be tough on my system....

Thanks for any help!

Teri

Don't know when you're going down, but she posted that she will be closed from July 31st until October. She said that she will post the return date in October on her FB page.

Teriann- I have seen conflicting reports about this. I'll go find examples of both and post the links for you.

Given your issues I think I'd probably avoid it. Just one guy's opinion.....

There was a recent (1 month old) thread about the toxins the fish have and one group singled out Lion Fish

But it was in most of the other fish as well, more so accumulated in the top eating chain of fish  (e.g. Barrys and Groupers

Nemo is safe though

DANG!!! She told me the restaurant would still be open while she gone. Maybe that changed.
Does anywhere else serve Pez Leon?

Lion fish are not dangerous to filet because they are filleted after freezing. Freezing detoxifies the poison and therefore makes the fish safe to handle. Spearing fish now assures that there will be Tacos even when the weather prevents diving.
I watched the fish filleted at the restaurant one afternoon. They partially thaw the fish and then filet it.
