Last ferry I believe was 3pm yesterday. They were to resume service today, but not sure at what time.

Treebeard, just saw on MexicoJets facebook that the port captains still have the channel shut down as of half an hour ago. They'll be posting a schedule once they're given the ok to resume service. Here's their fb page. It might be easier for you to follow up that way then call. I'm sure they'll be busy with calls, if they're even going to answer. http://www.facebook.com/mxwaterjets?ref=ts When you do get there, seems that all is well so you should be fine.

Thanks reefhugger. This really helps. We are being picked up at 11:00am so we may have a wait in PDC. Not sure what it looks like in PDC but the seas off Akumal are still very rough!

Even during nortes its usually rougher in Half Moon Bay and Akumal Bay then over in Playa, and definitely rougher then in Cozumel. Once you get across... and hopefully that's later this afternoon... you should have an uneventful finish to your vacation. Any chance you can get in touch with your transfer and maybe arrange a later pick up, and to stay where you are for now? Or at least maybe check and see what's open in Playa now? If the ferry isn't running, sometimes the restaurants near the dock don't open. Not enough business if there's no ferry customers. I've had to spend several hours a few times at the pier there with nothing to do. If it's still really windy that could be a miserable way to spend the afternoon.

Just drove by and the ferry still isn't running. There is a group of people waiting for it to open. Not sure when that will be.

Word on this side of the pond is that they will resume at 3pm - but that's third or fourth hand info I have :( Sea is CALM over here - is it still rough over there?

Drove by the ferry around 4:30 pm. Still not running. Word is Cozumel if fine but it is still to hard to dock in Playa. They should be up and running tomorrow.

The ferries are running again. We are on the ferry now and should be docking in a few minutes.

WE were surprised they weren't running earlier, but I guess the mainland side was rough from what I hear! Where are you staying in Cozumel?? Have a wonderful time - weather is gorgeous now!!!

Who are you diving with this time, Tree? Since you're up north, not sure if you know that there are a couple places walking distance from your condo where you can shore dive. I checked them out in December... and then somehow a month was just not long enough to fit them all in... funny how that happens. You can rent tanks and do a shore dive at Hotel B, Coral Princess and Playa Azul. Not spectacular, but there's always marine life to see and it's bottom time. You can just go and snorkel there too. Hotel B was also doing a weekly outdoor movie which was fun. I've gotten spoiled staying in town and south at places with docks. I love it up north, but being from town south I really like the laziness (especially in the morning) of just walking out and getting picked up and dropped off at the condo or hotel pier. Have a great time!

I'm a condo person too. My fav in Cozumel is El Cantil. On the ocean and right in town. It is not a super quiet location though like up north. I love the water and the quiet up there, but I'm torn because I really like the convenience for diving and evenings in town. I don't know that shop. I know a fishing charter by that name, maybe t's the same one? Hotel B has done a really nice job revamping the old Fontan. Definitely check it out.
