Thanks to Loco Gringo for a perfect and seamless vacation !! Also a special "two fins up" to Fins Up for the suggestion of a Pentax Optio WG-2 underwater camera. It is great, easy to use and very durable. I'm not doing a day by day because so many were the same. For the first time in years we did not rent a car and did not go anywhere other than a trip to Playa for a computer cable and a short boat trip to Chemuyil for a naked exfoliation on the Beach. For 10 days it was snorkel, read, drink and eat at Beach Bar, sit by pool, read, REPEAT! Each morning was a snorkel at about 7:30 to 9:00 or so, from the Casitas entry out to the Boat channel, across along the reef south to Moonrise and back to Casitas. At the Boat channel there are always large groups of fish feeding. Here, some Surgeon fish. This turtle just swam by as I was focused on something else passed right by me 2 feet away, headed out to the open water. There seemed to be good growth of Elkhorn Coral since the a year and a half ago and it was all over. Beyond the reef!! Not that exciting and only safe when ocean is extremely flat (seldom). I saw Cuttlefish all over the Bay, one group had 10 lined up. The obligatory Turtle shot A morning walk out past the Cannon House watching an Osprey eating a fish, very Cool An Urgent Urchin Gathering Usually I cook when in Akumal, this time not once! Just did not feel like it. So we ended up eating at the Lol Ha every single meal. Tried once to go to Cueva but drank too late ! It was not by choice just happened that way. Sorry for the lack of photos but I just don't think about bringing the camera to eat Items of particular deliciousness Grouper Veracruzana, Fried shrimp(camerones empanizado) neither are on the Bar Menu but with the right attitude it can be for you! The daily changing Sopa del Dia is great, especially the Red Chile Posole! The Guys at the LolHa were great a special thanks to Oscar, Lazarro, Luciano, and the two below, Pedro on the left and Alberto on the right. All these Guys will treat you right and get you what you want! We stayed at the Casitas, great as always, then I stayed solo at HCAC. Love that place! Also learned something! The answer to the never ending question "why can't we take the chairs beyond the ropes"!! According to the Hotel info book, which I never read, the Hotel has a Federal Preservation designation for the area in front of the ropes, the Feds consider chairs on the beach to be a commercial activity and if permitted they would loose their designation! The weather was all over the place with perfect days to crazzzy wind and rain but I enjoyed it all I did notice that I hardly ever felt a mosquito! Til Next time
