Here's part 1 ' ' Wed. June 13 We arrived in Cancun and met our friends at Hertz, where they were picking up the van for the six of us (me+hubby, friend+hubby, and their son + girlfriend). we then drove a short distance south to 307 to Puerto Morelos. We had 2 condos reserved in the Casita Blanca complex - about 6 blocks north of the town square and right on the beach. Got settles and then went to find some dinner. On others' recommendations, we tried "Al Chimichurri" - GREAT STEAKS!!!!!! And the service was superb. Thurs. June 14 Day trip to AKUMAL ' ' First, breakfast at Turtle Bay Cafe. **YUM** Then off to Yal Ku, as our friends had not snorkeled there yet. The warm temps made the lagoon water temp PERFECT! Saw the usual suspects: pretty blue tang, surgeonfish, parrotfish, sgt. majors, and a small barracuda. Then a snack and sodas at Lol Ha, enjoying the beachfront breeze and beautiful scenery that is Akumal Bay. Hubby and I then snorkeled the bay. Mexico is not complete for us until we see tortugas! Well, we were not disappointed - we saw 6! After a rest and drying off, headed to MexicArt for some shopping - got a cool blue moon magnet with a Frida Kahlo image inside. Then the Loncheria for dinner - chicken tacos - my fave restaurant, as they do not serve fish/seafood (I'm allergic) and that means worry-free dining. Fri June 15 WHALE SHARK tour! Got picked up at our condo at 6:35 (*YAWN*) haha! then off to Punta Sam for a little breakfast and coffee before boarding the boats. We were on our way by about 8:15. NIce boatride out - we all sat in the back of the boat, so it wasn't a rough ride at all. A little over an hour, and the boat comes to a stand still. False alarm, no whlae sharks here, but still lots of talking on the radio by other captains. We head a bit northwest. Jackpot! There are 10 people on our boat - they divide us into 3 groups and we take turns jumping in with the guide and kick our fins like crazy to keep up with the swimming giants! We went in 6 times! Every time was as fun as the last! The 4th time, I didn't see one right away when I jumped in, but when I looked to my left, holy cow! A huge head coming right under me! I quickly got out of the way. It really looked as though the whale shark could have pushed me up and out of the water with its head. WOW! A little rainy and cold on the way back to Punta Sam, but no one cared - it was an awesome experience. My hubby's underwater GoPro took some great videos!

Great report, thanks. Does the boat have a swim ladder? Also interested in those condos. Thank you
