Does anyone have a good spice recipe for fajitas?
Can you please share?
I find the commercially available ones very salty.

Hope someone comes up with a recipe here. I also need low salt, or at least that's what my doctor said, but, hell ....what does he know? LOL

Good Luck! Easy572

Got a couple of suggestions...
Pollo, camerones o res fajitas?

We primarily depend on a mix of red and green bell peppers, sweet onions, sliced jalapenos, chopped garlic, fresh lime juice and chopped cilantro for a fresh, bright base and add a spicy rub to the beef/chicken/shrimp before grilling. A simple mix of ancho chile powder, cumin to taste, mexican oregano and garlic powder usually suffices. Most commercially available chili powder has too much "stuff" in it...

And don't forget a home-prepared pico de gallo!!!

In most all of our cooking, we stick with home-mixed spice blends instead of the pre-packaged stuff so the salt level is up to us.

Check out penzeys.com for some great spices and salt-free blends...

Thanks Snow!
! would never have thought of the Cumin and Oregano!
You are right on the prepackaged spices, too much salt in almost all of them.

That is a good idea of using a blend for better controlling the salt level on one's sauce. Thanks.
