My first post! Traveling with a family group of 9 (ages 11-70). We are renting a villa on Soliman Bay (Villa Iguana). Our favorite place in the whole wide world is Cozumel where we rent a villa and mostly hang out at various beach bars, snorkel, eat, drink then repeat. We are very laid back. I know we can snorkel right outside the villa, but I'm wondering if there are some fun beach bars where we can get a meal and snorkel? Happy to travel as we will be renting cars...Akumal? Tulum? Also, what is the name of that beach bar where you can sit up in the tree and where is it located? Thanks everyone,. This is a great forum and I've been having fun reading all of the posts. dp

Dp, If you have the time I would suggest you order a set of Map Chicks Maps for the area. They show A LOT of stuff and if this is your first time to the area, they are a great resource for getting around. Welcome to LOCO Another place you can snorkel and eat is La Playa Xpu- Ha Restaurant and Beach Club on Xpu Ha beach just North of Akumal. You need to bring your own snorkel gear. Head South of the club to the abandoned resort at the far end. You can go online and get a look at the place. Just an FYI Corona Beer commercials have been filmed at the North end on this stretch of beach. CB

@PamF -- Thanks! @Cabin Boy -- I've already done that. Loved the Cozumel ones. Thanks!

A few km south of Soliman Bay, there is Tankah Bay, where you will find Casa Cenote (excellent margaritas and brand new chaises longues!) and good snorkeling opportunities either in the manatee cenote, located just behind the restaurant, or in the bay itself.

These are great suggestions. Love the idea of Casa Cenote as I've always wanted to snorkel one. Thanks guys.

First off - you will LOVE Soliman Bay. it's really nice, private, peaceful with lots to explore in the bay. The little patches of reef are just teeming with life! We usually head to Akumal and hit the places everyone has mentioned -- La Buena Vida and Lol-Ha. Definitely snorkel with the turtles right out from Lol-Ha! it's amazing. If you head down to Tulum, you can't really snorkel, but the beach is beautiful and the drinks are FANTASTICLY fresh at Ziggy Beach Club at Cabanas Tulum. Enjoy!!!

Alright guys -- getting some good day trip ideas. 1. Go North to Akumal and hit Lol Ha -- eat and snorkel and (hopefully) see turtles (my son's fav) 2. Go South to Tanakah Bay and hit Casa Cenote -- eat and snorkel in both the ocean and the cenote -- and add ruins here. And, for an afternoon in Soliman, hit Chamicos for good food and drinks And, maybe one night out at Osca y Lalo's. Otherwise, hang on the beautiful beach and pool at Villa Iguana. Thanks everyone!!

PS, always double check your bills, especially with a large party. A tip may or may not be added, look for Propina or service charge, and check the math.

We are renting a car for our upcoming trip to the Palladium and want to do some day trips off the resort. I am interested in some beach clubs: Ziggy in Tulum and and now maybe La Playa Xpu-Ha and Casa Cenote. Any more info on these? Are they located on the Map chick maps?

Tina Ziggy Beach club is located at Cabanas Tulum. More info on Xpu-Ha Beach club Here - just a short trip north from the GP
