As of mid-June there were 73 loggerhead and 5 green turtle nests, as reported in the CEA newsletter, so some of those will be hatching around mid-August. Others laid before the end of June will hatch by the end of August. There will be continued nesting during August so you are coming at a good time to catch turtle action.

Here is another good video from a few nights ago. It is of a green turtle landing - a very rare event to see. Sorry for the graininess as this was taken from far away with digital night vision binoculars ( otherwise she would have never come in ). A little long at ~5min, but it takes time for the turtle to check out and feel safe with a spot on the beach, and I thought it was worth keeping uncut. This is a good example of why you should walk at the top of the beach when traveling during turtle nesting season. This is when the turtle is the most cautious. http://youtu.be/d5OgheNmFDc

ORIGINAL: Tortuga Tom The quality of your videos is outstanding! What are you using? This year I am using a pulsar recon 550R digital night vision unit. It has an integrated recorder and 5x zoom.

ORIGINAL: TeriA Love the videos. So, do the mama's typically wait that long to come out of the water? Is it like a rest break before the long haul up the beach? I'm going to leave this one for Tom to answer. He's had much more up-close-and-personal experience than I have.
