2 weeks at Hotel Akumal Caribe - good times!

Almost every day went like this: breakfast on the porch at Lol Ha, diving with Natalie and Ivan for Ron, snorkeling for me, late lunch, siesta and read on the beach, meet the rest of the family who were staying at ABR for happy hour on our balcony, dinner, read on the balcony, fall asleep early.

Sounds like a perfect vacation to me! I loved HAC, 7:30 breakfast on the deck of Lol Ha, snorkeling. Dang - I wish I was back there right now! Where did you go to dinner? Any favorites?

Dinners were at Lol Ha beach bar, Turtle Bay, one at Cueva, one at Lol Ha restaurant will all the family and once at La Lunita, again with all the family.

Our main excursion was to Chichen Itza. We hired iTours to find us transportation, and of course had a fun reunion with Alma, Marco and Daniel. WE went to the Mayaland Hotel overnight. It is right beside the ruins so we went to the light show that night, then hired a guide for a tour the next morning. He was great with the kids, keeping them entertained for 2 hours.
After that, we went to Ik Kil cenote for a swim and lunch, then back home.

Not on this trip crunch. That was back in February.. No, I didn't do a trip report.

We met a few LGs. Craig in WI the first night, schnauzerdog a couple of days later, in the stairwell. then alexakumal a few days later at Cueva and again at CEA and on our last day there, Simona and juan rojo. Lots of fun!

On our next to last day, Ron completed his 300th dive so a celebration was in order.

On his last day, as he and Ivan were returning to the boat, they saw a manta ray! Cool stuff!!

Here is a sample of what I saw in Akumal Bay. It was a bit windy, although I snorkeled every day. But things wee stirred up some days so vis and pictures were affected.

That first turtle was the smallest one I've ever seen. in Akumal. It was less than a foot across and so pretty.

This one was asleep - no movement for several minutes!

This one was awake

This beautiful eagle ray hung around for quite a while

and the barracuda, of course

and Christmas tree worms

These were in a very shallow area, along with this grouper than I found several mornings under one of the fishing boats

my referee (?) fish

the barracuda was there too

The camera is on underwater setting with the flash turned off. Actually, there were a few taken on the auto setting when I forgot to put it back on underwater. But with decent light, it doesn't make too much difference. Then I use Picasa's I'm feeling lucky setting!
I'm glad you are enjoying them. I still have a few fish pics to post.

Thank you! I use a Pentax Optio W90. There is a newer version out now.
The land pics are taken with it also.
