hi guys! I am planning my and my fiance's honeymoon. We have it narrowed down to the Riviera Maya. More specifically the Valentin Imperial Maya, of everyone here who has stayed here? And what did you think?

I have read a lot of the reviews and am confused as to whether or not to the get the privilege or non privilege rooms. Below is what the privilege room gets us. I am guessing if we want to wait a little bit for the restaurants, and don't want there to be flowers waiting for us in our room upon arrival then we shouldn't pick the privilege package? Or if the Valentin Imperial staff know its our honeymoon do they still do this?

We don't mind waiting for a restaurant to get some space. Same goes for the towel game, does this ensure that we don't have to partake in the towel game.

So pretty much the privilege package ensures we don't go through any of those hassles? Sorry I'm such a newb at this. If our trip goes well we'll be avid returnees to the Maya!

Hi jsg7 I have stayed at the Valentin but didn't use the privelege package just had regular room. If you look through my pictures below you will see the area by the pool that is privelege they have your name put up there so you know which one is yours. It's the ones with the white cushions all together with curtains around them. I don't really know if the privelege is worth it or not so I can't comment on it. The food is fantastic, beds are so comfy, drinks great Mojitos yummy!!! It's a big place and spread out so it never really feels crowded except at the pool. They have the entertainment staff of Coco Bongos doing poolside things its fun and gets really busy at around 2ish maybe. Bring your own inflatable raft for the pool that way you have your own whenever you want to use it. I did the spa for a massage one day it was good also. I don't really have anything to complain about our stay except no beach view but I knew that going in. Beach view rooms are way farther from the restaurants it would be a long haul to eat dinner and if it's raining yikes. They do have an umbrella in your room in case you need one too. Also they will come and pick you up just call the front desk they have really nice cars that drive you to your room when you check in no golf carts probably have to tip though. They also give kitchen tours and bikes tours of the property i didn't do either just wanted to mention it to ya.Sorry I don't have any info on Privelge maybe someone else will chime in.

We stayed at VIM in April this year. It has a lot of "wow" factors. After a quick check in we went to the buffet for lunch. Wow factor #1. There were so many choices as we found at every lunch. Theme lunchs every day and great surprises every day. Some of the food choices were also found at the beach restaurant which was almost as good as the main buffet. The beach buffef was closer to the beach and had lots of things to eat.
We were in the basic room which was very roomy with a couch and seating area. Wifi in the room made it nice to check email and communicate with friends and family. We didn't spend lots of time in the room because of the great beach and big pools.
The beach was great. Lots of loungers. You could walk the beach north for quite a way. The swimming area was nice and it had buoys that kept out boats and seadoos. When the wind was up you had nice waves for jumping or board or bodysurfing. The pool was huge with two swim up bars. Lots of activity around the pool.
In the evening there was no buffet, only speciality restaurants with no need to get reservations. We usually went to eat at 6:30pm or so and never had a line. Later on when we left there was a line but don't think the wait was long. They have all kinds of restaurants and food to choose from and every restaurant we visited had great service and food. One night they had a Fiesta night in the main square by the lobby. What a great night. All kinds of food everywhere with entertainment alll night long. It was a fun evening.
The shows were good for the ones that we could stay awake to see. We did go to a dinner show one evening. Food was good and the show was entertaining. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. We did take a bike tour of the property at the activity center which was nice. We also took the kitchen tour which we liked as we saw where food was prepared and heard how stringent cleanliness is at VIM in the food preparation areas and with the chefs and wait staff.
All in all the week at VIM was very enjoyable and we want to visit again!
