Has anyone rented one of these? Easyway is giving us a decent price on it but I can't find much information on it anywhere. Is it something like VW Jetta, except that it is a station wagon? My husband wants a station wagon because he feels it will fit our luggage better than a regular car (and he doesn't mind driving a manual).

The Pointer is smaller than the Jetta. I have seen the Pointer Station Wagon, and it looked quite roomy for a car of that size.
For what it is worth.

I saw the Pointer wagon that Hawk & Needa had in March--it didn't look too bad.

I rented a Pointer s.w. from Easyway. They were fairly new. The one I rented had 28k on it. We had four 28 inch suitcases plus carry ons. They all fit in the back.

Hi Iza,
Husband and I had a VW Pointer wagon from EasyWay in May and were very happy with it. We had two large cases and my carry on and there was plenty of room. Be sure to check the car over carefully like everyone on here has probably already advised you. Have a great trip!
PS - Didn't you sometimes used to post on Fodor's in the Latin America forum about Costa Rica?

Thanks so much for the responses! I think we will go for it.

Jamie, yes, I used to (and sometimes still do) post on Fodors re Costa Rica (our favorite place in the world ). This is going to be our first trip to Mexico and I find this board so much friendlier and more informative than Fodors. I am really curious as to how the 2 destinations will compare.

We just got back yesterday and we had rented a VW pointer from Easyway. There were 3 of us. We each had a large suitcase of scuba gear, a medium suitcase each of clothes and two small carryons. We even stopped at the Chedraui on the way in and piled some groceries on top of all that. The car was pretty much filled to the brim....but it all fit inside. You shouldn't have any problems at all. Easyway was great.

Hi Grini,

Dug out my old quote from EasyWay, this was for 9 days (we spent the last 5 nights on Isla Mujeres where you don't need a car):
"We can offer you VW Pointer or Nissan tsuru (what be available at your arrival) for $ 256 usd + 10 % tax. Extra day will cost you $ 36.57 usd + 10 % tax.

Included: Unlimited mileage and insurances (CDW, ALI & PAI)."

Iza, hope you have a great trip. We love Costa Rica also and have been 4 times so far and it is a tossup as to whether we go back to the Roo next year or CR. It will be our 30th wedding anniversay so would like to go someplace really special.

Jamie, You rented a Pointer not a Pointer Station Wagon, correct?

Rented the vw pointer sw in april from Easy Way. Every thing was great, 4 adults all the luggage fit fine. Check the car INSIDE and out. Ours had a broken inside door handle and they kinda forgot to tell us about it. Worked out fine, enjoy.
